Why is it important to have Gutters? The first and I have found the most important reason is to protect your foundation, the water dripping off your house, as you may have seen before, will erode soil, mulch and flower beds etc. It may not seem like much erosion can happen at first but if you plan on living in your house for a for a long time it can add up over many years. If you have soil around your house you most likely have seen this before,
The water coming off your house makes a drip line and then overtime it washes away the soil leaving your foundation exposed. Which soil from underneath your foundation can slowly start to wash away as-well and your foundation can sink down ☹️ Gutters can help solve this problem along with landscaping and proper knowledge of water placement.
And the second would be for water storage. Water storage continues to be an important factor for gutters. Often needed to harvest rainwater, “gutters” are used to divert rain from roof into a rain harvest tank. From their water can be stored for long periods of time during dry seasons especially in Texas.
Lastly is for convenience no one likes to walk inside their home and have a drip of water hit them on the neck as you come in. Or cause a puddle that freezes and becomes a walking hazard in high traffic areas. Your house may also absolutely need gutters, some houses for whatever reason flood bad in areas. Maybe from improper grading or poor design. Gutters are often a simple solution to these problems.
